In windows 7: If you havent already resolved the issue, you will need to navigate to: C:/program data/microsoft/microsoft security essentials/support/ > then locate the file: "MSSEOOBE.etl" and simply delete it. Once you restart the computer, MSE will recreate it, and that should resolve the issue.

I keep reading this answer over and over, but unfortunatelly this is still an issue. I have read the advise to delete the "corrupted" file some weeks ago already, and yes, this will solve the problem and the error message will be gone -- for some days. But: it keeps appearing again and again and you will have to delete the file every other day. There is no obvious reason why this file should become corrupted out of a sudden, and regularly. It just will happen eventually, and this fact does not increase my confidence in that product...

I have the same problem too. The problem appears over and over again. The problm appears to be Microsoft's Security Essentials. I had problems with One Care prior to Microsoft shafting that program which I paid for. It was nice to see that Microsoft Security Essentials was offered for free in lieu of OneCare's demise. It appeared that Microsoft was taking Operating System features like security and updates seriously like OS X or Linux. But I'm wrong. Operating system features that actually work are not apart of the Operating System features Microsoft produces. Solution: use a real operating system with operating system features.

there isnt a file by that name on the PC???

This error is reappearing for the 4th or 100th time. Deleting the file did not help. Still looking for a fix, although less hopefully. P.S. the link to M.S. in the error description window has been broken for way too long.
